History

The company was founded by Harry M. Shearer as Monroe Piping Inc. in 1967. Harold Nairy and Reno Lippa joined Shearer in 1973 and purchased the business from him a year later. The company acquired the Rochester Division of Schneider Sheet Metal in 1983 and changed the company's name to Monroe Piping & Sheet Metal, Inc. to reflect the expansion. MP&SM added a Fire Protection Division in 1991 and in 2005 a Building Automation Division to complete their in-house expertise.

Harold Nairy retired in 1995 and Curt Peterson and Phil Somers became partners. In 2000 Dan Englert became a partner. Reno Lippa retired in 2002. The company changed its name to Monroe Piping and Sheet Metal, LLC as part of our ongoing succession planning process.

Careful expansion and selection of a highly trained workforce continue to serve as a solid foundation of one of Upstate New York's leading mechanical contractors serving a host of customers throughout Central and Western New York.
